DB-9 Connector Cover (Backshell Hood Kit)

The DB-9 Connector Cover is the two-piece plastic backshell that closes over a soldered 9-pin D-sub connector to finish the cable end properly. It shields the solder cups from shorting against anything nearby, and its integral cable clamp takes the mechanical strain so a tug on the lead pulls against the hood rather than tearing the joints off the pins. The kit arrives complete with both shell halves, jack screws and hex nuts to lock the connector to its mating half, and the clamp saddles and fixing screws needed for assembly, fitting either a male or female DB-9. Anyone making up their own serial leads for industrial, POS, or networking equipment should treat the hood as part of the connector rather than an optional extra — an unhooded DB-9 is the single most common reason a hand-built cable fails in service.
